Calibre Tuner
A chromatic tuner with bench-tuner precision
Status: Getting ready for Google Play
Calibre Tuner covers the full range of acoustic and electronic instruments, from roughly 31 Hz to 4186 Hz. The reference pitch is adjustable: 440 Hz is the standard, but European orchestras work at 442 or 443 Hz, and piano tuners often leave 440 behind.
The needle locks once the note settles, instead of shaking on the attack. That detail is what separates a phone tuner from a bench tuner, and it was the hardest problem in the project.
The app does not request internet permission. It uses only the microphone and vibration, and nothing you play leaves the device, because the operating system itself blocks it. There is no analytics, tracking or advertising.
